The police detectives in Agbor Delta State have arrested a 23 year-old man Ndidi Emmanuel and a secondary school drop-out for allegedly robbing pedestrians in the area. Confirming the arrest of the suspects, the Police Image Maker in the State, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, said the secondary school drop-out, Chuks Okpehoro as the ring leader in accomplice with others at present at large, had harassed and robbed several persons along Sunny Ojougboh area before they were identified and picked up in a church (name withheld) during an all-night on Thursday.

The Police Image Maker disclosed that the suspects upon interrogation confessed to the crimes, adding that they are still being detained for further investigation. It was reliably gathered that Emmanuel a native of Ohunmere Quarters, Agbor, and a Ghana returnee was a bus driver before his failed adventure to Ghana, while Chuks, 23 years old hails from Ohunmere too and a school drop-out alleged that Emma invited him to the scene of the crime Sunny Ohougboh area during nightfall. Speaking to journalists yesterday in Asaba on the arrest of the suspects, the chairman Agbor, Gha Ihun Vigilante, Mr. Fidelis Omoile expressed appreciation to members of the public for their support, and called on the youths in Ika South Local Government area of the state to stay away from crime and violence as there is no hiding place for criminals.

In another development, a suspected agent of Benin Electricity Development Company (BEDC), Nwuzor Fred, has been charged before an Asaba Chief Magistrates Court for allegedly defrauding one Mr. Ugwuja Cyril of the sum of N50, 000. The prosecutor said the 40-year old Fred allegedly obtained the money under the false pretense of supplying the victim a prepaid meter, which was false.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Blessing Kafor, said the accused also allegedly forged prepaid meter receipt, which is an offence punishable under section 467 of the criminal code cap. c21 Vol. I Laws of the Delta State of Nigeria, 2006. When the charges were read, Fred pleaded not guilty and the trial Chief Magistrate, Mr. F.I Dikeh of Court 1, Asaba, granted him a bail in the sum of N300, 000.00.
