There has been sporadic shooting, and some violence around Wuse Market, Abuja. The violence started after singer, Charly Boy, was pelted with stones by an angry mob. The leader of the #ResumeorResign protests is said to have narrowly escaped mob action from traders at the market.

There is now a heavy presence of armed security operatives stationed with armoured vehicles at Sokode crescent, off Dalaba street Zone 5, Wuse, Abuja
and some other strategic locations around Wuse market. The #ResumeOrResign protesters had started a campaign last Monday, demanding the return of the president who is away in the United Kingdom on a medical vacation.

The musician and his fellow campaigners were attacked by security operatives who dispersed them violently from the Unity fountain, on the first day of the protests. “Charly Boy came to this market with some cameramen doing his protest here,” a trader said. “I was standing in front of my shop when I saw him running for his dear life, being chased by those youths.”

The musician was rescued by security operatives who fired gunshots and tear-gas to disperse the crowd, then removed Charly Boy’s vehicles from the market, under the cover of tear-gas. Speaking on Twitter, one of the organisers of the protests, Deji Adeyanju said,

“We just went to Wuse market for mobilisation against 100 days event tomorrow & a regular face at Unity Fountain brought thugs to attack us. We had finished the mobilization in Wuse Market before they brought the thugs to attack us.” President Buhari has been outside Nigeria on medical treatment for a hundred days now.
