Gunmen
broke into her home along Ada Chenge Street, off Chief Abu King Shuluwa
road in Makurdi around 4am and whisked her away to an unknown
destination.
Gunmen early Friday
kidnapped Iyuadoo Tor-Agbidye, the wife of the Zonal Manager of First
City Monument Bank (FCMB), in Makurdi, Benue State.
Tor-Agbidye is a state government staff who works at Radio Benue as a senior news editor.
Daily Trust gathered that the
gunmen broke into her home along Ada Chenge Street, off Chief Abu King
Shuluwa road in Makurdi around 4am and whisked her away to an unknown
destination.
It was learnt that her husband travelled out of the town when the incident happened.
The State Commissioner of
Police, Bashir Makama, who visited the victim's residence at about 10am
said the kidnap may be the work of an insider.
Makama noted that the police
responded promptly when it got wind of the incident, adding that the
command had already contacted neighbouring states to keep vigilance
while steps are being taken to track down the abductors.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press
Secretary to Governor Samuel Ortom, Terver Akase, has dismissed an
online media report alleging that the governor ordered the kidnap of the
Tor-Agbidye.
Akase in a statement said: "It
is curious that the abduction of Tor-Agbidye which is said to have
occurred about 4 o'clock this morning beat the notice of Benue-based
journalists and was reported almost immediately after the incident took
place by a medium whose owners live thousands of kilometres away in a
style that smacked of complicity rather than objectivity.
"We find the allegation as the
height of mischief and a ridiculous desperation by merchants of
falsehood who have not hidden their identity as hirelings of top
officials of the previous administration. Those behind the publication
are known to be sponsored to run down the Ortom administration through
the fabrication of documents to support their fake stories."
