Phone sellers in Jos protest killing of colleague by DSS

Sellers and repairers at the Ahmadu Bello Way GSM plaza, yesterday took to the streets to protest the shooting of their colleague by security operatives .
The deceased, Hezekiah, was a final year student of the University of Jos.
DAILY POST reliably gathered that the incident occurred around 6pm on Tuesday.‬
Speaking with DAILY POST, a shop owner around the area, who simply gave his name as Ehindero said that the incident occurred when some security operatives tried to arrest one John Dan, who is into software application and downloading over an alleged missing phone.‬

He said, “they claimed to have traced a missing phone to John Dan’s shop,who is a final year student of University of Jos and also works in the shop. He tried to find out what was happening but the security operatives asked him to join John Dan. Hezekiah then was afraid and tried to run but the security operatives shot him from behind at a close range.”
‪He explained that, “We don’t know if he is alive, but they took him and John Dan in their hilux and left. We don’t know if they took Hezekiah to the hospital but based on the gunshot wound, we doubt if he can survive.
However, ‪when our correspondent visited the scene of the incident, soldiers of Operation Safe Haven, saddled with the responsibility of maintaining peace in the State and the police were guarding the streets while shop owners had all closed their shops and were seen demonstrating.‬
Reacting to the incident, Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Adekunle Oladunjoye, said, the Directorate of State Security Services were responsible for the incident.
He confirmed that the victim, Hezekiah died from the injury he sustained.
