Abia Police Smashes Student Armed Gang, Decries Rising Violence


POLICE LOGOThe Abia  Police Command has expressed concern over the increasing  involvement of  students in tertiary institutions  in violent crimes stating that the trend  was  becoming worrisome.
Parading two suspects, students of higher institutions in the state for armed robbery in Umuahia, the command   said the  duo would appear in court soon.

The  arrest is coming at the heels of the beheading of two students of Abia State  University,  Uturu on  March 12  in an alleged cult war reprisal attack.
The arrested suspects  identified  as  Uzoukwu Chukwudi, a 21 years old male student of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo state    and Christopher Johnson (aka Sena)  a graduate of  Micheal Okpara  University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU) were allegedly caught  robbing in a female  hostel at the school.
According to  commands police public relations officer, DSP ,  Ezekiel  Udeviotu   in a prèss statement in Umuahia, one  of the suspects  Chukwudi who claimed to be an ND 2 student of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede is assisting the Police in the investigation on  the armed robbery case.
