It was gathered that some of the suspects are employees of the hotel and they were alleged to have played different roles in the robbery that took place at the hotel located at Fatai Close, off Balogun street, Iju Ishaga

Lagos State police command revealed to LEADERSHIP that a “group of six men posed as lodgers and ransacked some rooms, stole some valuables and took away the key of one Cherokee Jeep with registration number JJJ 01 CE, green in colour, belonging to one Mr. Toheeb Awobokun. The command swung into action and the jeep was recovered at Alapere area of Lagos by the synergy effort of the command.’’
The police stated that they used the data of the CCTV footage in the hotel to arrest some of the suspected robbers and accomplices.
The suspects include, two females, namely, Kemi Adebayo, 25, Ayo Ajayi, 27, Wale Adesina 37, Chibuzor Opara, 25, Afolabi Akeem, 22, Sunday Onilowo, and Ahmed Ogbogo, 24.
The police said Ogbogo was a lodger with Ayo Ajayi, a suspected prostitute, who played a key role in the robbery as shown in the CCTV footage.
Police also said the other female, Kemi Adebayo was a receptionist in the hotel who acted as an informant to the robbers and handed the key of the jeep over to them to enable them leave the scene of crime.
It was gathered that Wale Adesina and Chibuzor Opara are private security men employed to guard the hotel but aided the robbers to get in and also helped themselves with the proceeds of the stolen properties.
‘‘We also have Akeem Afolabi, a mechanic and Sunday Onilowo, an ‘okada rider’ – their jobs was to locate their target and hotels to attack. Suspects have been transferred to Federal Special Anti- Robbery Squad (FSARS), Ikeja, The command remains resolute in ridding the state of all forms of criminalities,” the police said.
