A serving police inspector (name withheld) attached to ‘A’
Division Police Station Asaba, Delta State has is currently in trouble
for allegedly stealing a computer printer reportedly recovered from
robbery suspects.
It was reliably gathered that trouble stated with the police inspector when the principal of Illah Mixed Grammar School, Illah in Oshimili local government of the state, petitioned the police commissioner over the alleged theft perpetrated that the police inspector.
The petition dated October, 12, 2015 stated that the police inspector allegedly stole the computer printer recovered from the robbery suspects.
The petitioner, Mrs. Esther Ilobi stated that during the first quarter of 2014, a case of breaking an entry into a house situated in Illah Community where properties of Illah Mixed Grammar School were kept for security reasons were allegedly removed by unidentified thieves and the matter was reported at the police station. The thieves were later arrested.
Among the items said to have been recovered include a computer printer.
The petitioner said the inspector was assigned to the case as prosecutor and judgment was delivered on October 2, 2015 with all the accused persons found guilty and sentenced accordingly.
It was further gathered that among the items that were taken to court, the computer printer was missing; an item the inspector claimed he could not trace its whereabout alleging that it may have been taken by the IPO in the case before judgment was given.
