A 29-year-old-man, identified as Sunday Abudioke has been
hacked to death by suspected cultists in Odo, a suburb of Ado Ekiti,
Ekiti state capital.The deceased who until death operated a medicine shop, close to a private polytechnic in the community was said to have been axed and matcheted in the head by his assailants.
An unidentified friend of the late drug seller, according to his wife, Yetunde, who just delivered a baby a few weeks ago had visited her husband in Ado Ekiti on that fateful day, asking him to come to Odo and open one of his shops for business.
He reluctantly acceded to the request, and later travelled on a commercial motorcycle popularly called Okada alongside the friend to Odo community, a few kilometers from the state capital.
Another source close to the community said that, Abudioke had after the close of business on that day, boarded a private car from Odo to Ado Ekiti, where he lives but was later found in a pool of blood where he was dumped by cultists along the road by a good Samaritan who took him to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital for medical attention, where he was later pronounced dead.
It was gathered that fifteen thousand naira was found on him while his mobile phone was taken away by the assailants.
He has since been buried in his home town in Ayetoro Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local government area of Ekiti State.
When contacted, the Police Public Relation Officer in the state, Mr Alberto Adeyemi said he was yet to be briefed on the matter.
