For allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl by inserting one
of his fingers into her vagina, Obinna Obaji, 23, on Monday was
remanded in prison by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias remanded the accused at the Kirikiri Prison and adjourned the case till March 7 for ruling on bail application.
The accused, also a trader, who lives at 32, Orisumbare St., Iyana Ipaja, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a charge of sexual assault.
The prosecutor, Insp Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 21 at his residence.
Aigbokhan said that the accused was living in the same compound with the victim’s mother.
“It was when the victim, a three-year-old girl, wanted to urinate that her mother discovered that she was finding it difficult to urinate and also crying.
“The mother saw marks on her daughter’s vagina and when she asked her what happened, the girl said it was the accused that inserted his hand into it,” Aigbokhan said.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 404 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.(NAN)
