This followed a failed attempt by a group of kidnappers to unleash teror on the residents.
The locals resisted the attempt by apprehending and killing one of the kidnappers who had stormed the village.
It was gathered that the angry locals burnt the captured kidnapper before security agents got to the scene.
A resident, Mohammed Tanko said “The kidnappers came to the village armed with dangerous weapons on Monday night and started shooting wanting to kidnap some women in a house.
“The people mobilized against them and the whole village repelled them, in the process, they captured one of them and killed him. They also set his body ablaze in a mob action. The others escaped.
“The security agencies came to the village and started trailing the escapees to the forest.”
It will be recalled that, security agents last week freed four girls abducted by kidnappers in Kateri.
