Driver In Court For Allegedly Beating Up Police Wom

A 25-year-old, driver, Olakunle Adetunde, appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly beating up a police woman.
The Adekunle, who lives at 1 Adeyemi Close, off Oke Aro Bus-Stop, Ogun, was arraigned on a three-count charge of assault, breach of peace and unlawfully obstruction of duty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Idowu Onime, told the court that the offence was committed on Dec. 23 at Pen Cinema Roundabout, Agege, a suburb of Lagos.
Onime said that the accused beat up Sgt. Alonge Bridget, when he was arrested for disobeying traffic rules.
“He tore the woman’s uniform and left her half naked,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 117(1) (2), 166(1) and 172(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Miss A.R Onilogbo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Onilogbo adjourned the case till Feb. 8, for mention.
