Robbers kill IDP in Abuja

The camps of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Durumi and Wasa, both in Abuja, have been thrown into mourning after one of them identified as Benjamin James, was killed by unknown persons.
James, 22, an inmate of the Durumi camp, who hailed from Gwoza in Borno State, was a commercial motorcyclist.
He was allegedly clubbed to death Thursday at the Prince and Princess Estate area of Abuja, by a suspected robber who posed as a passenger.
The late Okada rider was last seen by his elder sister, who stays in the Wasa camp, at the Durumi camp at about 8am on the fateful day, when he came for his breakfast at a popular food vendor (‘Mama put’) near the camp.
Secretary of the Durumi IDP camp, Mr. Bala Yusuf, told Abuja Metro that they heard the devastating news about three hours later, when somebody called to alert them that James had been found dead.
He was allegedly hit on the neck with a sharp object suspected to be a piece of wood with nails before the assailant snatched his motorcycle.
Yusuf stated that they later reported the incident to the Apo Police Division, after which the corpse was removed and buried same day at the Apo cemetery.
When contacted on telephone, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, said he was not aware of the incident but promised to contact the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in whose jurisdiction the incident happened.
