Sales Girl In Court For Alleged Theft Of Employer’s N1.4m

A 26-year-old woman, Enyita Nneka, on Thursday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for alleged theft of her employer’s N1.4 million.
Nneka, who resides at No.4 Olorunishola Street, Bariga, Lagos, was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, told the court that the accused was a sales personnel with KRS Investment Ltd., situated at No.50/52 Town Planning way, Ilupeju, Lagos.
He said the accused committed the offences in the premises of KRS Investment on Jan. 9, at about 5 p.m.
Donny said the accused took permission from the office to go for lunch and claimed she dropped the key to her office in another office.
“It was later discovered that the padlock of the safe in her office had been cut off and money was missing.
“Several calls were made to the accused who had disappeared when she eventually answered she said she got an urgent call that her son was ill so had to travel to Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.
“All efforts to reach her afterwards proved abortive until the police apprehended her after the matter was reported by Mr Dairo Moses and Olorunda Femi on behalf of the company,’’ Donny said.
Donny said the offences contravened Section 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr. J.A. Adegun, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adegun adjourned the case till Feb. 8, for trial.
