We’re ready for you, Police tell pro-Biafra agitators

The police have warned pro-Biafra agitators against planned violent protest, saying it will arrest anyone who attempts to breach the public peace.
The police said information available had indicated that a group called the Indigenous People of Biafra planned to embark on a protest using dangerous weapons across some South-East states.
The police said in a statement on Friday that unlawful possession of firearms by anyone or group of persons is still prohibited.
The statement, signed by the police spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, assured residents of the South-East states of adequate protection.
The statement read, “The police have deployed personnel to deal decisively with any group that might be bent on breaking the law.
“The police remind the brains behind this security threat that the law prohibiting the unlawful possession of firearms is still in force.
“Therefore, any attempt to unleash mayhem on innocent and law-abiding Nigerians under any guise by this group will be met with stiff resistance from the police and other security agencies.
“Citizens in the South-East states are hereby assured of adequate protection, as appropriate police deployment has been put in place to deal decisively with any group or persons who might be bent on breaching the public peace and threatening national security.”
