ABEOKUTA—Ogun State Police Command has rescued the four- year -old boy, Steve Kanu who was kidnapped two weeks ago in Abeokuta, and has also arrested the suspects.
The suspected kidnappers had stormed the Laderin home of Dr and Mrs Mucipay Kanu in Abeokuta in a taxi and forcefully taken away the boy who was playing with the family’s puppy in the compound.
It was gathered that the kidnappers put a telephone call across to the parents, threatening to kill the boy if they did not stop involving the media.
They reportedly demanded for ransom after allowing the boy to speak with his parents to let them know he was alive and in captivity.
However, nemesis caught up with the kidnappers on Friday, as they were arrested by police operatives in a village in Enugu, a trip of over nine hours from the scene of the crime.
Vanguard gathered that the suspects have since been transferred to Ogun State Police Command in Abeokuta for further investigation.
Further findings showed that the suspects would be paraded during the week.
When contacted, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the report.
He said the rescued boy is doing fine, while the suspects are in custody as at the time of filing this report.
The father of the victim, Mucipal Kanu, confirmed to our correspondent yesterday that the boy has been re-united with them.
