Oyo Court Remands Man Of 40years, For Allegedly Defiling Minor

An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday remanded a 40-year-old man, Yemi Afolabi, in Agodi Prisons for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor.
Afolabi , whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor.
The prosecution said the accused allegedly had a carnal knowledge of a five-year-old girl at about 12.30 p.m. on April 24 at Ejioku Olode in Igbo Elerin area of Ibadan.
Cpl. Isiaka Laaro said the offence contravened Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State 2000.
He told the court that the case file had been duplicated and forwarded to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) as directed by the court for advice.
In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.A. Akanni, said the accused should be kept behind bars pending DPP’s advice.
The case was adjourned to Nov.15 for mention. (NAN)
