Court Remands Inverter Batteries Theft Suspect In Prison
An
Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Thursday remanded
25-year-old Roland Obomanu charged with theft of batteries of an
Inverter, an electricity generating equipment, at the Kirikiri Medium
Prison.
The stolen batteries, according to the charges, belonged to MTN.
Although the accused pleaded guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing, the Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola, ordered the remand ‘’for more facts and sentence’’.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Femi Adeleye, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on Oct. 30, at 2.30 p.m., at the MTN base station at 24, Independence St., Akesan, Igando, Lagos.
“The accused on the said date and time broke into an MTN base station with the intent to commit felony.
“He stole 12 inverter batteries, whose value is yet to be ascertained, at the MTN base station,” Adeleye said, adding that the batteries belonged to MTN.
He said that the offences contravened sections 408, 308 and 278 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Ordering the remand of the accused in prison, the magistrate adjourned the matter till Nov. 30,for facts and sentence.
