Police kill 4 alleged kidnappers during gun battle in Rivers

PORT HARCOURT—Four suspected kidnappers lost their lives weekend at Kaani in Khana local government area during a fierce gun battle with men of the Rivers State police command.
The state Police Commissioner, Mr Musa Kimo, who disclosed this in a press statement Saturday night, said his men stormed the hideout of the kidnappers of the Registrar, Ken Sarowiwa Polytechnic, Bori, Mrs Lilian Davies, for her rescue when the hoodlums opened fire on them.
The Police chief said during the exchange of fire, his men gunned down four of the kidnappers and successfully rescued the hostage.
He said his men recovered a locally made pistol, one magazine, 25 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition and five cartridges from the hoodlums.
The Registrar, Mrs Davies, was taken hostage last Wednesday along Yeghe-Bori road on her way from the office.
The state police boss appealed for support from the public to rid the state of miscreants and hoodlums.
